The team brings rich industry knowledge to Advisor’s coverage of consumer credit, debt, banking, investing, insurance, loans, real estate and travel. Our priority is ensuring the coverage, reviews and advice we bring you is backed by research, deep expertise and strict methodologies.

Editorial Policies

The Forbes Advisor editorial team is independent and objective. Our reviews and “best” rankings are created using strict, published methodologies and are driven solely by the editorial team in concert with industry professionals as needed. Content is informed by in-depth research, independent data gathering, analysis and expert insights.

Advisory Board

Content across Forbes Advisor is supported by our Advisory Board. Our content library includes deeply reported and data-driven reviews, best ofs and educational stories on all things relating to personal finance, small business technology, cryptocurrency, pet and travel insurance. To enhance our expertise and credibility, we work with a select group of advisory board professionals who review our articles and advise on content at various stages in the editorial process, from ideation to publication. Free of any conflicts of interest, they help us ensure our articles are objective, current and accurate.

On our pages, you may have seen “fact checked,” or “reviewed” above the editorial content. We created these designations so that you can see at a glance where a piece of content has been:

Reviewed: Content syndicated from Forbes Advisor sites in other countries that has been adapted for the Canadian reader is reviewed for accuracy by a member of the editorial team or original content is often reviewed by an advisory board member, in addition to following the traditional editorial policies of editing and fact checking. Our board members only review content specific to their fields of study and practice. Should the Advisory Board suggest improvements to content, our editorial team edits accordingly prior to publishing, where the page then receives the medical reviewer’s seal of approval and the “medically reviewed” icon.

Fact Checked: Members of our editorial team review and fact check every piece of content thoroughly, ensuring the information is accurate and supported by current primary sources. We prioritize peer-reviewed medical journals, government organizations, academic institutions and advocacy associations. Only after content is fact checked and edited for high-quality sourcing is it published by Forbes Health, where it receives this “fact-checked” icon.

Our Business

Journalistic integrity is the key to our success. To support our reporting work, our business team (a group separate from our editorial team) reviews our content after it’s written and identifies potential advertising opportunities. That team then secures compensation from some of the brands identified in our content. Katie is an award-winning journalist who has led the editorial teams at Bankrate, HerMoney, Interest, Bargaineering and Bankaholic. She has covered, assigned and edited personal finance and related content at national web publications and newspapers for more than a decade.

Mike Cetera

Editor in Chief for Forbes Advisor US. Mike has written and edited articles about mortgages, banking and credit cards for a decade. Prior to joining Forbes Advisor, his work appeared on Bankrate, CreditCards.com and The Points Guy. Mike has also offered his personal finance expertise in numerous television, radio and print interviews.

Kevin Pratt

Editor

Kevin has previously covered personal finance at MoneySuperMarket and Compare The Market after a 20-year career as a freelance financial journalist. He has appeared on BBC television and radio, ITV, Channel 5, Sky and across the UK commercial radio network, and is regularly quoted in national and regional newspapers and websites.

Aaron Broverman

Lead Editor

Aaron Broverman is the lead editor of Forbes Advisor Canada. He has over a decade of experience writing in the personal finance space for outlets such as Creditcards.com, creditcardGenius.ca, Yahoo Finance Canada, NerdWallet Canada and Greedyrates.ca. He lives in Waterloo, Ontario with his wife and son.

Deputy Editor

Courtney Reilly-Larke is the deputy editor of Forbes Advisor Canada. Previously, she was the associate editor of personal finance at MoneySense.
